Test Preparation time is in full blast at my school! I find myself constantly looking for old and new ways to liven up standardized test review. Here is what is working at the moment:
1. Promethean Activotes - I have a Promethean ActivBoard. Promethean Activotes are devices that allow the students to answer multiple-choice questions presented to them on our classroom whiteboard. Promethean Activotes and similar simple student response devices have obviously been outdistanced by many new products on the market. Also, there are lots of lessons and activities that don't lend themselves to using the devices, but for multiple choice standardized test review, they are perfect!

- They allow all my students to respond to every question. This increases student engagement by ensuring that they participate fully in each question and question set. No students taking questions off!
- I can determine who needs help immediately.
- I can ask students who miss a question to tell me what they are "thinking" when they select incorrect answers. I had a 3rd grade student this morning mixing up numerator and denominator (and selecting that ever-present answer choice). I was able to spot that immediately and help her on the spot.
